As you may have surmised from my clever title, I am, indeed, feeling inspired. Inspired to start blogging again, that is. I am not inspired to clean my house. It's important to make that distinction.
Caity has a Daisy meeting tonight; as one of the 3 feckless troop leaders, I am obligated to attend. Nothing fills me with more dread. Imagine - 25 crazed 1st grade girls in one room who need to be entertained for one whole hour. Is there anything more terrifying?

Radar Rage
Doesn't it just piss you off when you've had (it seems) decades of dry, hot weather, and the forecast has you slated for some significant rain, which you eagerly track on the radar, but said weather manages to skirt around you so that you don't get a drop? NOT ONE MEASLY DROP. I need rain! I crave rain! Ann Arbor gets the rain. Flint gets the rain. Where is MY rain?

Wheely Good Time
I was innocently driving down Woodward today when suddenly I saw a tire rolling and jumping its way across multiple lanes of traffic. It had already passed in front of me - no danger of me colliding with it - so I looked around for a car that it could have come from. Finally I spotted a truck slumped in the left lane of opposing traffic. The driver had already exited and stood in a trance-like state as he examined his vehicle with a very puzzled look on his face. Could he not see what the problem was? I came to a red light soon after and watched in my rearview mirror as the guy, finally realizing why his truck was not moving any more, located the errant tire (now on the shoulder of the road) and ran after it. It was then that I noticed the driver in the car next to me. When he saw me looking, he launched into an elaborate pantomime of how he'd felt when he saw the tire careening toward him: Aaaah! Oh, no! I'm going to die! It was really entertaining but then the light turned green and the show was over.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!
I'm feeling inspired to start blogging again! I know that you, my 2 loyal readers, are quivering with anticipation. I hope I can meet your myriad expectations and feel worthy of the high esteem in which you hold me. Or am I confusing esteem with scorn?

Heaving a Sigh of Resolution
It's that time of year again, folks.
Christmas has come and gone and Wendy has gotten fat. Well, to be truthful, it wasn't solely the fault of Christmas. It was the months and months and months of eating eating eating eating eating eating without any kind of exercise whatsoever.
Sure, I did the whole C25K thing over the summer: I ran (well, I trotted and walked, but on a scheduled basis) and even partook of some actual 5Ks. But summer was a long time ago. And although you might think otherwise, the fitness level of one's body does not just stick around. No. You have to encourage it to stay by actually staying active. Fancy that! So as the warm weather slithered away into fall, so too did my figure. Bye-bye!
Thus it is that I am - AGAIN - making "Exercise and Eating Right" my #1 New Year's Resolution. Luckily, I have about 26 hours before Jan 1 smacks me in the face with the cold hand of Obligation. So now I'm off to the fridge to seek out and destroy all the desserts I can find. And by destroy I mean consume, of course. You didn't think I was actually going to throw them away, did you? Puh-leeze.

Again?
I'm pondering the pros and cons of starting up this blog again.
Con: It would require effort, and that's not something I have a lot of.
Pro:
...
Um, still thinking of a pro.
While I mull it over, I'll go look forcookies inspiration.

I Picked a Hell of a Day to Run a 5K
I'm supposed to run my second 5K tomorrow. And by run I mean limp along at a 15 min/mile pace for a while, then walk a bit, then attempt to 'run' some more and pray that I don't heave up the meager contents of my stomach on the side of the road.
The first 5K, two weeks ago, was about what I expected. I finished, but at a snail's pace. And it involved walking more often than I'd wanted to. But I didn't puke, which was a pleasant surprise. I also kind of enjoyed myself, which was another surprise. A final surprise was losing my headband somewhere along the way. I had to take a moment to mourn - I liked that headband.
But anyway. Like a total fool - because kicking my own ass once wasn't enough for the year - I signed up for another 5K. This race takes place in Ann Arbor, and finishes on the 50 yard line of Michigan Stadium. Pretty cool, eh?
Well, yes, as it happens.
It will be pretty cool tomorrow. I think in the 40s at race time. And possibly raining. And windy. And I haven't been feeling so good (chest cold, you know).
At least I will have many valid reasons, besides my own incompetence, for finishing after everyone else goes home for the afternoon. And I take lots of comfort in that. Even if I'll be really uncomfortable at the time. You know?
